2018-19 Term 1 September – December
Betty Layward Music Department welcomes back all our pupils. We have a huge number of pupils learning instruments with the offer widened to include brass (trumpet and trombone) from after the October half-term and instruments available for hire also. (Information on the process for applying for instrumental tuition can be found if one scrolls down to further on this page). The first half of this term includes study of some of the BBC 10 Pieces including Earth by Hans Zimmer, No Place Like by Kerry Andrew and A Bao a Qu by Mason Bates and working in groups to produce original compositions based upon this. Children also continue with singing in Monday assemblies and music appreciation and performing in my Tuesday Music assemblies.
Upcoming musical treats include our annual Christmas concert, New Year Instrumental Recital, Easter Variety Show and of course BLastonbury!
As always a huge success this year with the theme of “Nostalgic Classics” for the parents!
