No 317, Friday 9th September 2016

Dear parents and carers,

I have had an excellent start to the new academic year. I feel very excited about my new role as Headteacher of Betty Layward. The staff, children and parents are making me feel very welcome and I am incredibly impressed by the children’s outstanding behaviour and attitude to learning.

I am attempting to get to learn all their names and they are fantastic at reminding me. I enjoy eating lunch with the children every day and my aim is to learn all about them.

I have met all the children in assembly. We have revisited our behaviour system, good to be green and we have also enjoyed a great music assembly with Barney.

Betty Layward is a school with a very committed and talented staff group. It is a pleasure to walk into classrooms and see the children learn with such enthusiasm and dedication. I have already seen some excellent learning taking place as I have walked around the school.

You will see me around in the mornings and afternoons and I have really enjoyed meeting some of you already. Please come over and introduce yourself. I have an open door policy and, for me, communication is key.

I am looking forward to an excellent year and working in partnership with you.

Best wishes,
Jessica
