Dear Parents and Carers,
We’ve had a really busy week at BL but the holidays are just around the corner now!
On Tuesday Stella, Grace and Orla from Year 5 Saffron class took a pupil assembly with no adults present at all! They presented on the topic of books and had prepared a brilliant slideshow and presentation! The children found it very funny and informative. It takes real guts to get up in front of your peers but the girls weren’t phased at all! Leaders in the making! We are all very proud of you! Well done!
Also on Tuesday we held an ‘Able Writers Day’ over in Daniel House. We were asked to host this day that was attended by children from 5 other schools in Hackney using our hall space to do a workshop with an author called Andrew Clover. Six of our children from Year 6 were given a free space. We would like to host more of these events in the future!
On Wednesday I had the absolute pleasure of watching Fuchsia class’ art lesson as I was told I would be presented with something! I had asked for some children to paint me a picture for my office and Kelly our art teacher, chose Zeynep, Freja, Daniela and Helga from Fuchsia class to do it. They used the opportunity to learn a new skill and I listened to how they had gone about creating their masterpiece. They unveiled to me the incredible canvas you can see underneath! I was blown away! I absolutely love it and cannot believe it was created by children so young. I can only imagine what great heights you girls will soar to when you are older if this is what you can produce already! Thank you girls and also thank you to Kelly for enabling it!
Well done to Year 3 Emerald class, whose assembly on the Stone Age was informative and brilliant! I loved it! Thank you to Carly and Ed for all your hard work with it! And also to Year 5 Buttercup class who did an assembly on Thursday about the Vikings! You were absolutely brilliant, well done! Well done Anna and Dorinda who clearly put a huge amount of work into the assembly!
It was lovely to see so many of you at parent’s evening, further strengthening the link between home and school. I hope you found it an informative session to discover more about your child’s learning. If you couldn’t make the date please contact your child’s class teacher to arrange a convenient time.
On Friday we rounded up the week with a superb day filled with Sport! The day was organised by Salwa and Simon to celebrate and raise money for Sport’s Relief! We started with a whole school assembly led by Lorna, Thea, Martha, Tess and Marni from Y6. They warmed the whole school up and were very inspiring! We then went as a whole school to the park to complete a one mile run before classes went off to do their own sporting activities for the day, all to raise money for Sport Relief! The mile run was brilliant fun! Thank you to Salwa and Simon for putting so much effort into organising the day, the children loved it. Pictures and more details next week!
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
See you on Monday for the final week of term!
