Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for supporting us with Children in Need this week. The children and adults looked great in their woolly hats.

Buttercup class performed a fantastic assembly on the Vikings yesterday. I was impressed by the amount of lines they learnt and how enthusiastic they were. Well done Buttercup class.

I observed all the classes this week. It was great to spend time in each class. I was impressed by how enthusiastic our children are with their learning. They are keen to contribute and work hard. I observed writing lessons and saw children using a wide and exciting range of vocabulary. I’m looking forward to reading some of this writing when it’s finished. The teachers and teaching assistants work incredibly hard preparing fun and exciting lessons which engage the children. They are an asset to the school.

There is a lot going about at the moment, especially sickness. We need to contain this so we ask that children do not return to school until 48 hours after their last bout of sickness or diarrhoea. Thank you for your co-operation with this.

Please could you remind your child to wear a coat to school every day.

The School Games Mark Awards for the past year have now been finalised and externally validated by The Youth Sports Trust and Sport England. We received the Gold Mark. A big thank you to Simon who works incredibly hard alongside the staff and children at Betty Layward.

I’m looking forward to the quiz night tonight. It will be my first PTFA event and I’ve heard many good things about it already. A big thanks to the PTFA for organising it. The Winter Fair is also nearly here too.

Thank you.

Have a great weekend

Jessica
