Dear parents and carers,

I hope you had a lovely Easter break and that you managed to get a rest!

It was lovely to come back on Monday to so many happy children, excited to be back in school with their friends and teachers, and full of news of how they spent their holidays.

On Monday, we settled back into school routine with an assembly where we shared stories of what we had been up to over the last two weeks.

I saw some wonderful recounts being written in Year 3, including one from Carly, Emerald class teacher! I watched some very exciting learning happening in Nursery where we made some beautifully designed boxes and played with shaving cream! It’s amazing to watch the children interact and learn so successfully through free choice and play.

On Wednesday David, Martina, Carmen, Zion & Liryk from KS2 performed a Spanish assembly. It was brilliant to hear their wonderful vocabulary and see them perform so confidently in a second language. We will be celebrating Spanish week later in the term too. Thank you to Clare who organised this and to all the children involved.

Also on Wednesday, our girls football team did us proud at a football festival where they came 3rd! Amazing! Well done to Martina, Maddie, Millie, Lola, Yasmine, Orla, Keira, Thea & Tess. If you go onto our school website you will see a video from Alan Shearer in support of our girls’ team! We are very proud of you all well done!
On Thursday, I watched some highly challenging maths work in Year 4 classes! It always impresses me how children are able to support one another in their learning, watching some excellent examples of peer assessing of work and partner talk really made my day!

I hope you have a lovely weekend!
