Newsletter snippet of our teacher’s trip to Madrid
At Betty Layward all students in key stage 2 learn Spanish as their modern foreign language for one lesson per week. We are hoping to roll this out in KS1 and EYFS in the future.
We are lucky to have the expertise of three Spanish-speaking teachers with varied backgrounds and experiences to ensure a rich and diverse learning content.
In 2016, students in year 5 travelled to Madrid on a one week school exchange to explore the diversity of Spanish education and lifestyle. Students were able to communicate through their knowledge of the Spanish language.
Last year we successfully applied for funding from Erasmus to promote the teaching and learning of Spanish at Betty Layward which involves sending teachers over to Spain to participate in a Spanish speaking course and developing links with our partner school.
