Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for your kind words and support during this period. The children are being amazing. We are answering any questions age appropriately and they are being happy and smiley just like the staff. Our duty is to ensure we keep the children and staff safe so please follow the guidelines given.
Government and Public Health England have provided advice to say that if you, your child or anyone in your household displays the symptoms below, you should not bring your child to school for 14 days.
- a new, continuous cough – this means the person has started coughing repeatedly
- a high temperature – the person feels hot to touch on their chest or back
Please ensure you refer to the detailed advice on when and how to self-isolate, which can be found online:
- Government COVID-19
- NHS COVID-19
Please inform us as soon as possible if your child needs to self-isolate according to the government and Public Health England guidance above and please keep us informed of the reasons for any absences via the usual channels.
Please do not send your child into school if they have any symptoms or if anyone in your family is displaying symptoms. Please follow the guidance to ensure we keep everyone healthy and safe.
Please take note of the following changes we have made –
- Swimming is cancelled for Year 5 for the foreseeable future.
- If you volunteer please do not come in.
- Star of the Week assembly is cancelled for the foreseeable future.
- Buttercup assembly is cancelled.
- The Jumble Sale is cancelled.
We are continuing to limit visitors so please do not come into school unless it is completely necessary. We may be cancelling instrumental lessons as well.
We are currently looking at ways to be able to send work home. Please be patient as we have a number of staff absent and we are having to cover each other. I am sure you can understand how busy it is.
We would like to collect donations for the Hackney food bank as some people need help and support during this time. Any donations are welcome. Please give them to your child to bring into school.
It is vital that everyone in the Betty Layward community does all that they can, in accordance with Government advice, in order to protect those members of our extended community who may be most at risk. I will keep you updated as much as I can. Thank you once again for your continued support during this time. It’s times like this I am reminded what a great community Betty Layward is.
