Dear Parents and Carers,

Update on School Closure

The government has taken the decision to close schools across England from Friday 20th March. In accordance with this our school will close at 3:15 pm on Friday unless you attend a club or Fit for Sport. These will still be running.

In a written statement on Wednesday 18th March the Secretary of State for Education, Gavin Williamson, has said: “We will not go ahead with primary school assessments or secondary exams this summer…We will work with the sector and Ofqualto to ensure children get the qualifications they need.”

From next week, schools in England will be expected to play a new role in support of vulnerable learners and key workers. This will involve us being open for some children. We will directly contact families of children who we expect to be in schools in the first group and will be in touch with parents/carers about key worker status when we have more clarification.

I have spoken to the children about what school closure means to them. We have reassured them that even though we won’t see them every day we will be thinking of them and communicating with them all the time. I am happy if I am emailed by you or them at any point. We will be thinking about you all at all times. We know Year 6 might be worried that they may not be back again. We cannot say how long this will last for but we will do something for them, whenever we can. Your children have been amazing and we will carry on enjoying teaching them in a virtual way. We have organised a learning platform and there will be more information to follow.

A big thank you to all of you for your patience, kind words and calmness during these challenging times.
