Betty Layward Primary School is a registered Eco School working our way towards the prestigious Green Flag status.

We have an Eco Committee of dedicated passionate children who initially were elected to the committee in 2019-20 when they were in Year 5.

They are now in Year 6 and continue to meet fortnightly to discuss environmental issues and help take Betty Layward forwards in continuing to improve our Eco credentials.

One of the obligations the Committee must adhere to is having an Eco Board and this is it!! 🙂

The Eco Committee administrator (aka as me Barney Green!) will regularly upload and update on information here online for all to see and follow.

1. Everyone’s Responsible for caring for the Planet.
2. Every person in school is an Eco Champion.
3. Do something eco-cool every day (turnoff an iPad or light, recycle, use scrap paper instead of fresh…)
4. (for staff) Don’t Print – instead email or show on Smartboard/Screen.
5. Everywhere. Always.
6. No Device Day once a term.
7. Save energy (except when you’re running round the playground!)
8. Use less water (except when you’re drinking it after running round the playground!)
