Dear Parents and Carers,

We have just finished our first full week and it’s been great. We discussed the vision of the school in Monday’s assembly. We looked at ways we are creative, ambitious, curious and respectful at school. We also discussed what makes us happy at school. It’s great to see so many happy children here. I have asked the children to feedback to each other and the staff when they see these qualities in their friends or show them themselves. You might want to chat about these qualities with them as well.

I have spent time outside in the playground. The children really enjoy the equipment and play brilliantly together. I am impressed by all the monitors and how seriously they take their roles. I really enjoyed my first Star of the Week Assembly. I look forward to celebrating the children and their achievements every Friday.

Year 5 had a fantastic trip to the Bristish Museum and were great ambassadors for the school.

Thank you to those of you who attended the meet and greet meetings. We hope you found them useful. Any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Just a reminder, please could you ask your child to stop scootering or cycling at the gate. Space is tight and we would like to avoid accidents. Please do not tie dogs to the front gate or bring them on to the school site. Thank you.

A parent has made a request. Her friend and neighbour is driving to Calais on 3rd October to volunteer at the refugee kitchen on Calais. There are currently 10,000 refugees in the camp. The kitchen is run completely by donations. In recent months people have stopped supporting refugees and donations have dwindled. She will be there for 3 days cooking etc. We can help by loading the car up with food.
They have sent us a list of what’s desperately needed.
Cooking oil, Large tins tomatoes, Large bags rice, Large bags flour, Tins chick peas, kidney beans, Large bags split red lentils, Sugar, Salt, Honey, Tea bags, Bin Liners, Tea towels, and washing up liquid.
There will be a box by Reception for donations. Thank you for supporting this.

I have really enjoyed my first full week and look forward to many more.

Have a lovely weekend.

Jessica
